Arinite’s global footprint

Arinite’s June 2023 International Blog talked about our links with South Korea.  More news from South-East Asia comes from the first world assembly of occupational safety and health professionals which took place at the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan last month.

The overall purpose of the Expo was to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations’ (UN’s) Sustainable Development Goals adopted by Member States in 2015.  The 17 goals are represented here by the UN’s graphic:

Declaration aims

A signed declaration launched the World Assembly of Occupational Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Professionals and Stakeholders. This network will collaborate on commitments to:

  • promote safety and wellbeing
  • drive global collaboration
  • empower future leaders
  • create a roadmap of concrete actions between now and 2030

How does this affect you?

Worthy declarations signed in far-away places may not appear to have immediate relevance to your organisation.  However…

  • The campaign aims to engage organisations worldwide to systematically cut down on occupational accidents and diseases by investing in a healthy and motivated workforce.
  • Organisations implementing Vision Zero are expected to adopt systematic prevention strategies that go beyond traditional safety measures.
  • Organisations are expected to track specific leading indicators that predict potential incidents before they occur, shifting from a reactive to a preventive approach.
  • The initiative has gained substantial corporate adoption, with over 10,000 companies and organisations participating as partners, and this number continues to expand.
  • Organisations find that Vision Zero affects their operations by requiring cultural transformation, systematic risk assessment processes, employee engagement programs, and continuous improvement methodologies that integrate safety, health, and wellbeing into all business decisions.

So how can your organisation contribute?

Organisations can support the UN's Sustainable Development Goals through a wide range of strategic actions across their operations, partnerships, and community engagement. For example:

  • Integration into Core Business Strategy.
  • Operational changes such as reducing carbon emissions, ensuring fair labour practices, promoting gender equality in hiring and leadership, and implementing circular economy principles to minimize waste.
  • Innovation and investment in clean technology, affordable healthcare solutions, educational platforms, or financial inclusion tools.
  • Partnerships and collaboration with governments, NGOs, other businesses, and international bodies to scale impact.
  • Reporting and transparency such as integrating the Sustainable Development Goals indicators into annual sustainability reports.
  • Community engagement through education programs, skills training, infrastructure development, and employee volunteer programs.
  • Policy advocacy organisations can use their influence to advocate for policies that advance the Sustainable Development Goals, whether through industry associations, direct government engagement, or public-private partnerships.
